چکیده
Abstract Background The purpose of the present study was to examine relationship between ankle joint laxity and general (GJL) in relation menstrual cycle, which divided into four phases based on basal body temperature ovulation, assessed using an ovulation kit. Methods Participants were 14 female college students (21–22 years) with normal cycles (cis gender). Anterior drawer stress a magnitude 120 N applied for all participants. talofibular ligament (ATFL) length measured as linear distance (mm) its points attachment lateral malleolus talus ultrasonography. Data ATFL from each subject used calculate subject’s normalized change anterior (AD%). University Tokyo method evaluation GJL. AD% GJL once phase. Results There no statistically significant difference score significantly higher luteal compared early follicular showed positive correlation other Conclusions Although it is unclear whether estrogen receptors are ATFL, suggests that women high scores might be more sensitive effects estrogen, resulting

A comparison of cyclic variations in anterior knee laxity, genu recurvatum, and general joint laxity across the menstrual cycle.
Changes in anterior knee laxity (AKL), genu recurvatum (GR) and general joint laxity (GJL) were quantified across days of the early follicular and early luteal phases of the menstrual cycle in 66 females, and the similarity in their pattern of cyclic variations examined. Laxity was measured on each of the first 6 days of menses (M1-M6) and the first 8 days following ovulation (L1-L8) over two c...
متن کاملRelationship between knee joint laxity and knee joint mechanics during the menstrual cycle.
BACKGROUND An increase in knee laxity during the menstrual cycle may increase the risk of anterior cruciate ligament injury. OBJECTIVE To investigate whether changing knee laxity during the menstrual cycle correlates with changing knee joint loads in a cutting manoeuvre. DESIGN Cross-sectional study. SETTING Laboratory testing. PARTICIPANTS 25 healthy women, with a normal menstrual cycl...
متن کاملChanges in joint laxity occurring during pregnancy.
We have studied changes in peripheral joint laxity occurring during pregnancy in 68 females using both the finger hyperextensometer to quantify laxity at the metacarpophalangeal joint of the index finger and Beighton et al.'s modification of the Carter and Wilkinson scoring system. Although the latter system recorded no change, the more sensitive hyperextensometer demonstrated a significant inc...
متن کاملMechanical Joint Laxity Associated With Chronic Ankle Instability
CONTEXT Lateral ankle sprains can manifest into chronic mechanical joint laxity when not treated effectively. Joint laxity is often measured through the use of manual stress tests, stress radiography, and instrumented ankle arthrometers. PURPOSE To systematically review the literature to establish the influence of chronic ankle instability (CAI) on sagittal and frontal plane mechanical joint ...
متن کاملThe effect of exercise on ligament laxity during inversion/eversion rotations at the ankle joint
Background Previous literature investigating the effect of exercise on ligament laxity at the knee found that basketball and distance running elicit a significant increase in knee laxity post exercise [1], whereas powerlifting [1] and cycling [2] do not change after exercise. This suggests that, to have an effect on ligament laxity, an activity must be weight bearing and repetitive in nature. W...
